It is often said that time is money; even if you disagree with this, you surely feel that time is an important asset. Time can be money, or time can be leisure, or time can be fun; whatever the case, time is important for many of us. And even though figuring out "how to keep conversations short" might seem like a funny thing to look at, it is also apparent to most people that there are some conversations they would rather end quickly. Regardless of whether these conversations occur with a coworker, a neighbor, or a stranger, you will have more of your "time" if you know how to keep these conversations short. Be polite: The best thing you can do, when aiming to end a conversation quickly, is to summon every ounce of politeness you can muster. If you are rude to someone when trying to end a conversation quickly, you may find that the conversation actually ends up dragging on longer. On the other hand, your counterpart will leave the conversation feeling fulfilled if you are polite and friendly throughout - which makes it much easier to end the conversation. Recognize what people want to talk about: Even though conversation is intended to be a back-and-forth exchange between two people, most people truly are most enamored when they are talking about their own self. If you are trying to keep a conversation short, turn every question they ask you back to them; the sooner they tell you all the things they want to tell you, the sooner they will feel all right exiting the conversation! Know how to graciously finish: The toughest part of keeping conversations short is often the closing, as people try to make excuses that usually sound like exactly that: excuses. Instead, you should always end a conversation the same way when you are trying to keep things short: simply tell the person that it was great talking to them, and that you look forward to catching up again! If you follow these tips, you will be able to consistently keep conversations short when you need to; and what's more, you will do so in such a way that your conversational counterpart always feels fulfilled!

Growing Your Business Through Customer Referrals
A strong customer base is something that small businesses always try to develop. It can be hard for you to gather new clients regardless of the methods being used. One method can be an array of different marketing techniques. Cold calling on potential consumers is another. If you want to you can send mailings directly to target customers at home. Many businesses have untapped resources though. The potential of referrals from their current customers is often something that they fail to take advantage of. The back bone of your business development plan can be customer referrals if you use them in the right way. The best advertisement for your business is your current customers who are pleased. You can drastically grow the amount of new customers your business generates if you are able to start getting referrals through you current customer base. The difficulty is in finding a efficient method for you to do so. There are a few different ways that you can efficiently generate current customer referrals. If a current customer of yours refers a new customer, you can offer a bonus or special offer to them as a reward. Both ends of this referral can receive the perk. One example would be to offer a buy one get one free coupon to the current customer and the same offer to the referred customer you signed up. They only drawback to this type of method is the added cost involved. The normal cost of a new customer is something you must weight though. What was the amount of time you used to get this new client? How much marketing was required to bring them in? Spending time and developing marketing both end up costing you some money. Offering a referral bonus often ends up being equal to the amount of money you spend on these other methods. Making the current customer you have happy is one of the benefits you get from referral bonuses, not only a happy new customer for you.

Tips For Hiring Hard-Working Employees
One of the biggest things about running a business will be hiring people who will help your business to run well; after all, when you hire people, you are essentially putting the reputation and the wellbeing of your business in their hands, and while it is impossible to monitor your employees at all times (and while no one in their right mind would even want to do this!), it is possible to ensure that the employees you have will represent your business well, as long as you know how to hire hard-working employees. Too many businesses nowadays fail to realize that the struggles of the economy make it easier for them to find truly talented employees, and the first step to finding such employees is getting the word out so that people know you have a job opening available; when you make sure as many people as possible know about your job opening, you will ensure the greatest number of "great candidates" applying for the job. The first thing you will want to do, of course, is narrow down the prospective employees based on resumes, but you should also make sure you are willing to interview all the employees you are on the fence about; after all, it is better to take some extra time and make sure you are getting an excellent employee than to make a quick decision and wind up with someone you wish you had not hired. And before you bring interviewees in for their interviews, have a clear picture of how your interviews will be structured, and of what you are looking for - as far as answers go - from the people you are interviewing; in this way, you will be able to guarantee that you are getting the most out of the interview process, instead of putting yourself in a position where you are "flying blind" as you try to select a new employee. You will be able to ensure that the people you are hiring will be hard workers as you follow these tips, and you will help your business to keep on growing - and these things will pay off in a big way as their time with you lengthens!
Dealing With Excessive Noise While Working
If you work at a job with co-workers who tend to make a great deal of unnecessary noise (or if you work from home and have to deal with excess noise from your neighbors or the people with whom you live), it can be difficult to get your work done in a successful manner. While you are unlikely to get your work done in an optimal manner with this noise rattling around in your ears, there are a few steps you can take to minimize the negative effect this noise has on you, and to maximize your efforts toward work. Simply listening to some music while working is the first thing you should try doing; while some people find that listening to music does nothing but distract them, others find - especially when they play music that they already know (which keeps their mind from focusing on the music closely) and that they enjoy (which also keeps the mind less focused on the music - that music can be a great way to drown out unwanted noise. You can also consider getting a package of ear plugs that are effective and highly rated, as these can block out the noise that has been making work so difficult to come by, and can make work much more likely to be successful. The most amazing product of all for drowning out unwanted noise is a white noise machine; the Sound Conditioner Sound Screen SleepMate Electro Mechanical White Noise Machine is the best product on the market when it comes to white noise machines, and at only $50, you cannot beat the price for the gift of silence (in the form of white noise!) it gives you! Even though it would be great if this excess noise would simply disappear, this is not always a viable solution, and so it can be hugely beneficial to find another way to solve the problem - and you should have no problem doing exactly that with any of the above suggestions!

Should I Pay For Ads Or Use SEO?
When it comes to the topic of whether you would be better off saving money on online advertising and instead working on search engine optimization for your small business, or if it would be better to save some time and put some money into online advertising, there is plenty of debate; of course, there are definitely merits to the arguments on either side, but if you have been trying to make this decision yourself, one of the best thing you can do is simply look at the numbers. Twitter is one of the most popular websites on the Internet these days - and is certainly one of the places where people are most likely to spend their time - and because of this, it has become one of the most popular places to advertise; as far as the effectiveness of advertising on Twitter, however, you should realize that only about half of one percent of all clicks on Twitter come on the ads on the site! Of course, another one of the most popular destinations on the Web nowadays is facebook, and facebook makes lots of money off of their advertising services; while facebook ads can be effective, however, the numbers show that the click-through rate of facebook ads is generally well under one percent - which, again, is far less than optimal! And one of the most popular places to pay for ads these days - largely because of the fact that it is just about the most popular destination on the Web - is Google, but while the ads on Google are effective, it would be far more effective to have used search engine optimization to get your site onto Page One of Google rankings than to have paid for an ad; on average, only about 18 percent of the clicks on Google go to the ads, while the other 82 percent go to the organic results! It is not a bad idea to pay for ads for your small business, but you should also realize that using search engine optimization also has its merits - as even though it can take a little bit of extra time, it can also bring you much greater results!

Tips For Opening A Store On eBay
Stories seem to crop up all the time about someone who someone knows who is making thousands of dollars each month selling items on eBay, and these stories always make it out to sound like making money on eBay is the easiest thing in the world; if you have ever tried to start a store of your own on eBay, however, you have probably found that it is a bit more complicated than these stories make it out to be - and that you need to gather a few more tips before you will be able to meet with success. When people open up a store on eBay, one mistake they often make is that they only have a few items to sell; if you are simply wanting to unload a few items from your garage or attic, you can do this with a regular seller account, but if you are wanting to open and eBay store and make some serious cash, you will want to make sure you have a full inventory ready before you set up your store, realizing that the more items you have, the longer people will stick around to browse through your store, and the longer they stick around to browse, the more likely they are to bookmark your store and to tell others about it. Discouragement also tends to set in when someone's store does not take off right away, and because of this, they do not pay as much attention as they should to the few sales that are being made; your early sales will be extremely important to your long-term success, as you will need to get a few positive reviews before you can start making more sales. For those first few sales, get in the habit of paying close attention to the sale - making sure the product is in good shape, shipping it out quickly, and even including a note to the person, thanking them for their purchase - as this will ensure some ever-important positive ratings early on, and this will put you in the mindset of always taking good care of your customers as your eBay store starts to expand and business picks up. And once you have these positive ratings, you will be ready to start expanding: get people to mention your store on twitter and facebook, ask people to mention it on their blog, and talk it up in person - and soon, you will be one of those success stories others are hearing about!
Running Your Small Business from a Distance
Running into problems is an issue small business owners constantly deal with. Every line of business across the spectrum deal with the same issues as a general rule of thumb. One of the biggest issues is with hiring; trustworthy and hard working staff is something that is difficult to find. If they cannot find high quality staff to work with they will find that the result mean they will end up spending much more time at their business than imagined. A work-life balance that is completely out of whack ends up happening. A book that focuses on restoring this work-life balance for business owners who need it is titled How to Succeed as a Small Business Owner and Still Have a Life. If you cannot enjoy some quality time away from your business then there is no joy in having one that is successful. Your small business isn't meant to eliminate your personal life, but should help to make it more enjoyable than it was before. The intention of this book by Bill Collier was to provide guidance on a small business that can thrive without the owner being around. Being a major tool of your business is essential for your staff if you hope to be able to run it successfully without needing to be there. A staff that is at the center of a business plan is the focus that Collier presents and develops. Making sure they are successful really directly relates to the values that you can provide to them. If you run your business by a strong set of values you will be able to help guide your employees without actually being with them. This is the final goal any small business owner should have. Centering around goals, Collier writes 20 chapters in this book. He will guide you on setting these goals, planning accordingly to help achieve them, and to execute the plans you come up with. This three step process should provide you with a great base for success. How well you can run this business without you needing to attend it every day will be the measuring stick for your success. When you are away from your business you will no longer need to worry about it.

Writing A Winning Job Resume
Your job resume will be the first part of you that a prospective employer will ever see. With the economy and unemployment being what they are these days, you will find yourself competing against plenty of applicants when searching for a job. Because of this, it is important that you understand how to make your job resume stand out. It might seem like there is nothing you can do on a job resume but list your previous jobs and hope for the best. But you will be limiting yourself if you take this approach these days. Instead, you should write a resume that causes a prospective employer to feel like they have to call you; you can do this by learning to make your resume stand out. One of the most important elements of your resume is its design. Considering the prospective employer's perspective will help you understand why this is an important place to begin when writing your resume. The person reading your resume has likely been at their desk for hours, poring over a huge pile of resumes. According to studies, each resume gets about 15-20 seconds of attention the first time through the pile. If your resume is designed with big, blockish paragraphs, this will be uninviting to tired eyes. Instead, design your resume with clear headings and lots of white space on the paper. When tired eyes come across such a resume, it will seem like an inviting escape; you might even get them to spend more than 15-20 seconds on their first glance! The next step for setting you apart from other applicants is the section where you list your accomplishments and qualifications. Dig deep, and uncover things that you might not have thought of immediately; never fabricate this section, but certainly take your time to remember as much as you can. If anything seems as though it might be useful to them in making a decision (especially a decision that will lead them closer to you), include it! Finally, your list of qualifications will be among the most important selling points of your resume. Use this section to set yourself high above your competition - those faceless others who might be applying. Think of this section as an advertisement, where you tell the prospective employer all the reasons why they should "buy" you. Although searching for a job can be frightening in these uncertain times, knowing the steps to a winning resume can make it a whole lot easier.

Tips For Achieving A Sense Of Fulfillment At Work
Many people go to work each day and come home each day and go to bed only to wake up the next morning to repeat the same cycle, doing something for a living they do not particularly enjoy, and deriving from this work no real fulfillment; for most of these people, there is a misconception that causes them to believe that they have to enjoy their job in order to feel fulfilled in their job, but it is actually entirely possible to experience fulfillment even if you dislike a job - and considering how much time most people spend at work, this is certainly a valuable tool to have! The first thing you will want to do, when looking to feel more fulfilled in your job, is find things in the job that you do like; even though most of the job might be things you dislike, there will be things in any job that you will appreciate, and once you uncover what these things are and learn to focus on them, it will make it much easier for you to reach a state of fulfillment. Another reason why many people are unable to find fulfillment in their job is that they work to try and impress their boss, and when their boss does not notice (or when the perceived compensation of a job well done fails to live up to the worker's expectations), this makes the hard work seem a lot less worthwhile; if you want to find more fulfillment in your job, however, you should get yourself in the habit of trying to impress yourself instead of trying to impress another person - working hard so that you can feel proud of the job you have done. And when it comes to finding fulfillment in your job, one of the biggest keys actually takes place outside of work itself, as you will want to make sure you are maximizing the other areas of your life. Most people work so many hours primarily in order to provide themselves and their family with enough money to lead a comfortable and enjoyable life, so make the extra effort to ensure that you are enjoying life in general, and watch as this also leads to you enjoying work more as well!
Tips For Creating A Good Working Environment For Your Employees
One of the biggest things you will need to make sure you do if you want to get the most out of your employees is give them a work environment that will be positive and will engender great behavior and hard work - but while just about every business owner is fully aware of this fact, actually making this a reality for your business (and for your employees) can be a bit more difficult; in your quest to create a positive work environment for your employees - and to experience success with your business as a result - here are a few things you can keep in mind to help you achieve this goal. You do not want employees who are always frightened; you might think that this will 'keep them from making mistakes,' but actually, it is more likely to cause them to make mistakes; instead, one of the best ways to keep your employees from feeling frightened and nervous is to understand the value of positive reinforcement, as providing positive reinforcement to your employees will put them in a place where they can continue to do these same things for which you are praising them. In addition to recognizing the value of positive reinforcement, you should also understand the value of competition; some business owners have a tendency to view competition in a negative light, but when you allow your employees to compete with one another, this will give them a greater sense of investment in their job, and it will put them in a position where all of them are constantly striving to do their best. And of course, you will need to understand the value of relaxation if you are hoping to create a great work environment for your employees; your employees can get burned out quite easily if you do not allow them to relax, so make sure they have enough time off from work, and make sure their work environment is not stressful! As you keep these goals in focus, you will be able to continually to create a positive work environment for your employees - and they will continue to reward you with quality work!

Tips For Getting People To Your Website's Sales Page
A lot of small businesses - and even a lot of search engine marketers - deal with the problem on their website that (with much time, effort, and hard work) they find they are getting lots of traffic to their site, only to discover that they are not really increasing in sales as much as they would like; a large part of the reason why this happens is that traffic is not necessarily synonymous with conversions - and in order to convert visitors, you will need to know how to get them to your sales page. One of the best ways to get visitors to your sales page is by having a "call to action button" that exists on every page on your site - either on the sidebar of the site, or within the text itself; this call to action button should not compromise the look of your site, but it should snag the attention of your visitor (perhaps letting them know about a deal or promotion you have going on) so that they will be more likely to visit your sales page. Another thing you should realize is that there are certain parts of a site that visitors tend to ignore, because so many websites use these areas for ads, or for sales pitches, but one area of the site that visitors will have a hard time ignoring are the tools they will need to use to navigate the site - so take advantage of this by placing sales-related materials in these areas.
And finally, you will want to make sure you are paying close attention to the actual design of your site, and will want to make sure that the "conversion" elements of the site stand out, instead of blending in so well with the rest of your site that your visitors never even notice them! When you start paying attention to these things, you will be able to see a steady increase in the number of conversions you have on your site - and will see a steady increase in income from your site as a result!

Seven Steps To Building Your Business Plan
If the time has come for you to write a business plan, you might be at a loss as to how you should proceed. While most people understand that a business plan is important for a startup, it is actually equally important for even those businesses that are already established. A business plan gives your business direction and a definition of purpose, all in a tidy, organized document. These are the seven elements that you will need to include in your business plan. 1) Executive Summary: This will be the last part you write - it is basically a summary of everything you will say in the document - but it will come at the beginning. 2) Company Description: This part will detail your history up to the present if you are an established business, while it will detail your startup plans if your business is new. 3) Product or Service: You will use this section to not only describe your product or service, but to do so while keeping the focus on the customers themselves. 4) Market Analysis: This is hugely important, especially when you need a loan. In this section, you should prove your understanding of both the market and your customer's needs, as well as your plans to reach the customers. 5) Strategy and Implementation: In this section, make sure you avoid any vagueness. Give concrete details about your company's structure and strategies. 6) Management Team: This section can be a great selling point, as you can delve into the backgrounds of all the key members of your team. 7) Financial Strategy: Especially if you are a startup company, you have to make sure you understand what you are doing in this section, providing detailed analysis and projections. If you are trying to get your feet under your business, a good business plan can help; if your feet are already under you, you can gain even more traction with a solid business plan. A sloppy business plan, on the other hand, can prevent you from procuring necessary financial support, and can keep your business from moving forward.

Does It Matter Who I Exchange Reciprocal Links With On My Website?
When you are conducting some search engine optimization on your website, one thing you will probably be doing is looking for different ways by which you can take advantage of the manner in which search engines work - and once you understand that backlinks (that is, links from another site that point users to your site) are among the most important elements of SEO, this may lead you to start doing some reciprocal links - where you link to another site in exchange for a link back to you - but while this can be a beneficial SEO trick, it can also hurt your website if you do not do it right! Know who is linking to you: If you have a website that is fairly high-ranking, and you are exchanging a reciprocal link with a site that is brand new, or that is not high-ranking at all, you will still be helping them, but they will not be helping you at all; furthermore, you will not receive any help through a reciprocal link if you are exchanging links with a site that is deemed by search engines to be irrelevant to yours. Know who you are linking to: While links from a poorly-ranked site will not hurt your search engine ranking, you should know that it is possible to hurt your search engine ranking by linking to "unsavory" sites; if a website is packed with spam, or if it is overflowing with pop-up ads, or if the content on the site is offensive, linking to this site will actually hurt your standing with search engines rather than helping you! Pay attention to anchor text: The anchor text (that is, the text that this "partner website" is turning into a link) will also make a difference in whether or not the reciprocal link does anything for you; the best way to reciprocate links is to tell the other person what you want the anchor text to say, as this will allow you to make sure that the anchor text contains keywords that are relevant to the page being linked to, which will cause the link to have more weight with search engines. SEO can be complicated at first, but once you start understanding the little things such as this, you will be in much better shape to boost your placement on search engine rankings pages!
Vacationing In Florida
If you are thinking of going on a vacation with your significant other or with your family, one thing that may have come to mind is all the wonderful, exotic places outside the United States that you would like to someday explore - but while it would be wonderful to be able to visit all these places, money will often stand in the way; not to worry, however, as there are plenty of wonderful vacation destinations right here in the States that are worth keeping in mind, and if a warm, laid-back climate is the perfect vacation fit for you, there are especially plenty of places in Florida to choose from. If you are looking for a busy, eventful vacation, one of the best options in the States is Orlando, Florida, as you will be able to spend your days at Disney World and your evenings hanging out at the restaurants and bars that the city of Orlando is full of; furthermore, there are some great beaches in Orlando, in case you want to get away from Disney World for a day or two, and because of the great waves of tourists that are always making their way through the city, there is always something fun to do. If, on the other hand, you prefer a place that is still inviting for tourists, but that is less crowded and a bit more laid-back than Orlando, think about heading over to the Gulf side of the state and spending a few days hanging out in Sarasota; Sarasota is known as much for its art galleries as for its beaches, and a few days here will certainly go a long way in helping you to unwind and relax. And if you want to truly get away from it all - from not only the crowds of Orlando, but from even the sparse tourists of Sarasota - consider getting offshore and hanging out for a few days on Saint George Island. You can rent a house or a condo on this island for a surprisingly good price, and you will be able to spend some time relaxing on a quiet beach, watching the dolphins that frequent these shores, and replenishing your mind and body in the sun and quiet of this lovely slice of Florida.

Keeping Visitors On Your Website
If you are running a website, regardless of whether you have this website in order to promote your small business, or in order to try to make money through search engine marketing, there is a good chance that you will be putting a fair amount of emphasis on getting people to your site - using search engine optimization and other creative efforts in order to do so - but one thing you should also keep in mind is the fact that just because people show up on your site does not necessarily mean they will stay! Design: Even though it might not make a whole lot of sense when you consider that people did not come to your site for the design, but instead came because they input a search in a search engine and your site showed up, this is still the first thing most visitors will notice; the design of your site does not have to be perfect, but if you do a poor job with your design - to where it bothers visitors - they are likely to leave right away!
Relevance: As long as your design has not chased your visitors away immediately, they will next turn their attention to determining exactly how relevant the content is to the search they showed up because of; this means that it will be important for you to know what your primary keywords are on each page, as this will enable you to make sure your content will be relevant to the searches that bring people to you.
Quality: And of course, a good design and relevant content will not be able to rescue content that is of a low level of quality - so make sure you focus on this final aspect of your site in order to keep people around, and to make money in the long run!
As you build your website, in addition to your efforts to bring traffic your way, make sure you are paying attention to these important elements, and in the long run, you will achieve the success you desire!

Your Marketing Plan and Social Marketing
The constant struggle to keep an edge over the competition is being fought by most businesses. Your direct competition can copy many of the things you do. They can come out with the same product or service, open another location next door to you, and market in the same ways as you do. If you want to stay ahead of them in your line of business the only true way to do so is by social marketing. A few different techniques are combined into one with social marketing and this allows it to be a consistent method. Most people hear social marketing and think that it directly correlates with marketing done through social media. This is a common mistake. The type of marketing they are thinking of is really named social media marketing; something different. Social marketing is not tied to being done solely online. Social marketing starts with the important relationship that you and your business has with its customers. Everything that you can do needs to be done to stroke this relationship. Visits and meetings on a personal, face to face basis is one option. Keeping in touch can also be done online with social media sites and e-mail. Determine which of these methods is best to use after getting to know each customer. As long as you continue to nurture the customer relationship, the rest almost takes care of itself. The second part of this marketing method involves customers spreading the word about your business. If they are happy with your business, then they will tell others in their life about you. This will lead to many referral sales opportunities. Your job will then be to make sure each referral becomes a sale. The best part about social marketing is that it has no cost. It is a type of marketing that has been done since the beginning of organized business. It has been given its name just recently however. Social marketing should be at the center of your business marketing plan since the only cost involved is some extra effort on your part.
How To Have Fun At Work
Plenty of people "dream" of having a job that they truly enjoy, and one of the reasons why they "dream" of this is because the job they actually work does not fit this bill. But while you will inevitably be able to find things about your job that you are not especially fond of, this would also be the case even if you landed your "dream" job, and once you realize this, it is easy to also start realizing that you can have fun in whatever job you work, as long as you decide to have fun and enjoy it - and in fact, you will also start to find that the more fun you have at work (the more you enjoy work!), the more productive you will be! Having fun at work can be as simple as making an effort to build relationships with the people with whom you work; lots of people go to work, do their work, and go home, without ever making an effort to get to know those around them, but when you become friends with your coworkers, going to work and seeing them each day will become much more enjoyable. Having fun at work can also be as simple as finding fun things that you can do while you are at work; for some people, this is listening to music, for others it is taking short breaks to work on a crossword puzzle, and for others it is simply getting up every once in a while and going for a walk. And lastly, having fun at work can sometimes be as simple as making sure you are working hard; when you make it your goal to truly work hard, you will start to feel much more fulfilled with your job, and this will in turn make your job a whole lot more enjoyable. While it is easy to sit around forever waiting for that "dream job" to fall into your lap, it is nearly as easy to turn your current job into everything you wish for that dream job to be - and it is also much more rewarding!

How To Spread The Word About Your Business
One thing you should acknowledge to yourself, if you have your own small business, is the fact that just about every well-known business - even the ones that are household names - still puts a great deal of focus on advertising; the reason for this, of course, is that spreading the word about a business is an important component of the success of that business, and if this is the case for the household names, it should be the case even more so for you! When you are making an effort to spread the word about your business, the first place you should look to is the advertisements that cost money; this can include radio ads, print ads, billboards, and Internet advertising - and as you focus on these areas of advertising, you should make sure you do so with the explicit understanding in mind that you are wanting to make your company stick in the minds of those who see and hear your ads! When it comes to the Internet, in addition to the advertisements you can pay for, you can also spend absolutely nothing and spread the word about your business; as you work to promote your business, make sure you are building a strong online presence, through your website, through a blog, through facebook and Twitter, and through anything else you can think of, as this will be a completely free way for you to draw new visitors to your site - and to your company! And of course, there is word of mouth - the oldest form of advertising of all; always keep in mind the fact that your current customers are your most valuable assets, and as such, you should aim to treat them with the utmost respect - always doing your best to take care of them, and always looking for ways to encourage them to spread the word about your business. When you spread the word about your business with this approach, you will have no problem getting the most out of your efforts - and will be able to continually see an increase in the business you are generating!
